Chad and Troy McWhinney purchase original 440 acres from their father, Derrick McWhinney

Chad and Troy sell 70 acres for the development of The Outlets at Loveland, working closely with the City of Loveland on infrastructure and entitlement negotiations

McWHINNEY develops second subdivision on approximately 40 acres of land

Hampton Inn developed as first hotel at Centerra

McWHINNEY donates four acres of land to the City of Loveland for the Chamber of Commerce building, Loveland Visitors’ Center and the Hahn Sculpture Park

Chad and Troy negotiate a deal with Dayton Hudson Company to develop a Target location at Centerra. Strategic properties come under contract, including all land around Houts Reservoir and Equalizer Lake, 750 acres east of I-25 and 640 acres west of I-25. 340 acres purchased from McWHINNEY cousin, Alice Van de Water, west of Centerra development. McWHINNEY forges partnership with McStain and begins development of High Plains Village, with a vision of an environmental center.

McWHINNEY office moves to FDC I (5200 Hahn’s Peak Drive) at Centerra

Millennium Annexation complete. This 2-year process provides the City of Loveland with zoned and entitled properties

McWHINNEY puts another 268 acres under contract east of Centerra development and develops Swift building at Promontory in Greeley

McWHINNEY moves office to new Rangeview I building overlooking Houts Reservoir and Equalizer Lake

The Promenade Shops at Centerra open and Co’s BMW opens at first dealership at The Motorplex at Centerra

Medical Center of the Rockies opens and McWHINNEY completes development of Chapungu Sculpture Park

McWHINNEY acquires Eagle Ridge Apartment Homes

McWHINNEY breaks ground on Lake Vista Lifestyle Community, opens Denver office, and breaks ground on Arbour Square Lifestyle Community in Westminster, CO

McWHINNEY breaks ground on The Greens at Van de Water Lifestyle Community, celebrates 20th anniversary, breaks ground on Fiberspar, and is selected to develop CSG Systems’ corporate campus in Omaha, NE

McWHINNEY joins the Union Station Alliance as principal developer on the renovation of the historic train station in downtown Denver and completes development and construction of Fiberspar Corporation facility at Iron Horse Business Park in Johnstown, CO

McWHINNEY breaks ground on Arbour Commons Lifestyle Community in Westminster, CO and opens The Trails at Timberline, a lifestyle community in Fort Collins, CO

McWHINNEY breaks ground and begins development of The Lakes at Centerra, a multi-phase, high amenity residential community located in the heart of Centerra and begins construction of Great Wolf Resort Southern California in Garden Grove, CA. In July, McWHINNEY and the Union Station Alliance reopen Denver Union Station.

McWHINNEY breaks ground on High Plains School, a pre-K through 8th grade STEAM school located adjacent to The Lakes at Centerra. In partnership with Grand American, Inc. and Sage Hospitality, McWHINNEY begins redevelopment of downtown Denver’s historic Windsor Dairy into a vibrant, mixed-use project to be known as Dairy Block, set to open in 2017. McWHINNEY also enters into a partnership with Sage Hospitality and Mortenson Construction to build the AC Portland hotel in Portland, OR.

McWHINNEY begins construction on Cycle Apartment Homes at Foothills Mall in Fort Collins, CO, breaks ground on Agrium’s US headquarters at Rangeview IV at Centerra, and completes construction of Centerra Industrial, the first building in a new industrial park development at Centerra
