Guests at the forthcoming AC Hotel Portland Downtown won’t find room service, a full-on restaurant or expansive meeting spaces.

But that’s all by design.

Instead, visitors will come upon a simple, sleek hotel with tapas, craft cocktails and live music in the lounge, local artwork on the walls, tidy meeting areas with brainstorming space and rooms with commanding views of the Willamette River, downtown and Mt. Hood.

“This brand is all about removing friction from travel and taking away the unnecessary,” said Erica Endorf, general manager of the AC Hotel Portland.

The 204-room hotel, a project from Colorado real estate developer McWhinney and Sage Hospitality, along with Mortenson, broke ground back in the summer of 2015 and is now coming down the home stretch. Its 13 stories rise from the corner of Southwest Third Avenue and Southwest Taylor Street. Construction is wrapping up, and the hotel should be open for business on or around January 23.
