The general manager of The Elizabeth Hotel has a lot riding on his shoulders.

Expectations for the 164-room boutique hotel are high in a city that has waited decades for more downtown lodging.

“I’ve never experienced such an excitement,” General Manager Scott Sloan said. “It’s exciting and a little nerve-wracking.”

He said he’s so confident in his leadership team and the support he’s getting from developers that he feels “set up for great success.”

The Elizabeth is tentatively scheduled to open Nov. 15, but the date is fluid as construction schedules demand, said Sloan, 57.

No photos have been allowed inside the hotel at 111 Chestnut St., but renderings show an upscale hotel with a grand staircase, three themed-suites — Ram, Music and Beer and Bikes — available for overnight guests, a heavy emphasis on music, a rooftop bar, private terraces, a ballroom, a restaurant and a wine bar.
