McWHINNEY, a Loveland-based firm that had a hand in the redevelopment of Union Station and is now busy building the Dairy Block mixed-use development, will break ground later this year on a 12-story apartment complex in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Called Sova, the 211-unit apartment building will be built on the northwest corner of 19th Avenue and Grant Street beginning in the fourth quarter. In addition to 12 stories above ground, the development will include one floor of below-grade parking. In total, the project will include 211 parking spaces and on-site car charging stations, as well as space for more than 100 bikes.
Denver-based Craine Architecture is designing the project, which is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2018.
McWHINNEY has long been active in the northern Colorado market, most notably building the Centerra mixed-use project at I-25 and U.S. Highway 34 in Loveland, but has increased its presence in Denver since getting involved with Union Station. The company has also formed a relationship with Denver-based Sage Hospitality, and together they are building a 13-story hotel project in Portland in addition to the hotel portion of Dairy Block.
