Celebrating 30+ Years of Success & Impact

Proudly making a mark on the communities we do business in from day one.

Creating places people love.

McWhinney is a collective of entrepreneurs, visionaries, and placemakers who directly impact the real estate industry in meaningful ways. Our companies and community stakeholders collaborate together to deliver unprecedented value and exceptional experiences that draw people in, entice them to stay and keep them returning for more.

We partner with like-minded designers, partners, and investors who share our core values and are interested in approaching development in new innovative and sustainable ways that have a positive impact on the environment.

Our Brand Pillars

Guiding Principles live at the core of all McWhinney projects and are infused into every real estate development we do.

Our Brand Pillars serve as the building blocks for all our projects, just as nucleotides are the building blocks of DNA. With that basic DNA structure in place, our developments become visible, lasting, and striking multifamily and master-planned communities, commercial and mixed-use opportunities of enjoyment, and of course, hospitality areas of respite and relaxation.

Our projects demonstrate a commitment to high-quality, highly functional and aesthetically attractive layout, as well as architecture and design concepts appropriate for the location, site, product and market positioning of the project.

We are committed to sustainable development and care for the environment. This includes both project specific sustainability practices and collaboration with strategic community partners.

We make meaningful contributions to our communities through great placemaking and direct non-profit engagement. Our leaders and associates contribute personal and work time to give back to local non-profits and civic causes.

All our projects incorporate an authentic and visible commitment to art and culture as part of the overall aesthetic and design of spaces that incorporates human senses; while targeting a designated project hard cost to fulfill these purposes.

Every project will be better than the last and show a commitment to innovative product development and integration of current trends in technologies based on bench-marking, research and customer feedback.

Ways we are making an impact

Thompson Education Foundation Days

  • The Centerra community collected water bottles and food gift cards at a June Community Rally to support underserved youth in the public school district.
  • Centerra hosted the annual Loveland Classic 5k/10k community fun run which took to the miles of trails and benefited TEF.
  • Associates volunteered with TEF to support the Help Kids Succeed school supply program by preparing school supplies and stuffing thousands of backpacks for local students.
  • Associates supported the Scheer Fund Golf Tournament benefiting TEF’s Dr. Stan Scheer Memorial Student Opportunity Fund. Dr. Scheer was a former TSD superintendent who was instrumental in helping to bring High Plains STEAM School to Centerra.

Local Food Banks

  • McWhinney is committed to volunteering at local food banks and hosting annual food drives to support those in need.
  • In a conscious effort to help and directly support local individuals and families going through difficult times in our communities, we partner with the Larimer County Food Bank, Food Bank of the Rockies, and Broomfield FISH.

Blood Drives

  • With critically low blood supply (in the US and Colorado) and alongside local medical provider UCHealth, McWhinney hosts blood drives to help save the lives of Front Range families, friends, and neighbors.
  • Our associates and multifamily communities have all stepped up to contribute and collect pints of blood to help make an impact.
  • McWhinney even partnered with a local Girl Scout Troop to treat each generous blood donor with a box of cookies personally delivered from a smiling local scout.

Wish For Wheels

  • McWhinney partnered with non-profit Wish For Wheels to assemble and deliver bikes to Winona Elementary School in the Thompson School District. Forty bikes and safety helmets were gifted to local underserved youth to help reduce screen time, encourage exercise, and improve attention spans amongst elementary students.
  • A second McWhinney hosted bike build and donation is planned next month and will support more than fifty additional youth in the Denver Public School District.

Aspire 3D - Loveland Housing Authority

  • McWhinney supported non-profit Aspire 3D powered by the Loveland Housing Authority, at their inaugural Kite Festival that took place at Loveland Sports Park which raised more than $30,000 to support local community members needing housing and shelter support.

Hearts & Horses

  • McWhinney associates lent a hand to help spruce up the grounds at Hearts & Horses which serves as a therapeutic riding facility in Northern Colorado helping to serve and support people with disabilities.
