McWhinney Hires Tom Martin as General Manager of Dairy Block

DENVER, COLO. — October 10, 2016 — McWhinney is pleased to announce that Tom Martin has joined its Development team as Vice President of Mixed-use Operations and General Manager of Diary Block. In this position, Tom has primary responsibility and accountability for the operations of Dairy Block, McWhinney’s mixed-use experience and retail alley that includes office, retail, and hotel space in downtown Denver, CO. Tom, who will also be known as “the Mayor of Dairy Block” will provide a unifying leadership presence that ties together the various components of the property and ensures it operates cohesively at a first-class level.

Tom brings over 20 years of experience and expertise in the management of mixed-use projects and development. As General Asset Manager for Simon Property Group in Atlanta, GA, Tom managed one of the top-performing mixed-use centers in the country, a site that includes an urban super regional shopping center, a luxury high rise hotel and class A office sites. Tom’s responsibilities there included asset management, strategic planning, financial oversight and property management.

Tom previously worked for McWhinney as the General Manager of Mixed-use Development, where he was responsible for the operational success of the company’s proposed mixed use projects.

Prior to re-joining McWhinney in 2016, Tom served as Senior Manager for General Growth Properties, Inc. in Hoover, AL. There he was responsible for one of the largest renovations and expansions in the GGP portfolio, totaling over $110 million dollars in new investment since 2012.
