LOVELAND — McWhinney, the developer that remade east Loveland, is reviving some projects on both sides of Interstate 25 that had suffered setbacks in years past.

“The market’s pretty strong,” said David Crowder, general manager of Centerra and vice president of community development for McWhinney.

“We’re seeing Northern Colorado grow at pretty much an unprecedented rate,” he said. “With Centerra really at the center of that growth, we’re laying plans to take advantage of our place in that market.”

First on the agenda is a 100-room hotel on the property where Bass Pro Shops announced in 2012 that it would build a store and announced in 2015 that it wouldn’t build a store.

The first hotel will be joined later by a 200-room hotel, Crowder said.

The property, a 26-acre site northwest of the intersection of U.S. 34 and Centerra Parkway, originally was to hold Bass Pro Shops, a Courtyard by Marriott hotel and several restaurant and retail pads.

Crowder said he couldn’t confirm yet whether Courtyard by Marriott still is planning to build at the site.
