Installation Information

Manitou Springs based artist Liese Chavez is known for her Victorian-aesthetic, surrealist paintings. She infuses her characters with intriguing facial expressions and her scenes with a dry sense of humor. She achieves the luminous texture of her subjects’ skin through a Venetian layering technique of numerous thin coats of under paint. The distant stare and rigid posture of the woman a re counterbalanced by the fantastical loops and turns of the horn.
