Installation Information

The Tribute series pays homage to the eight presidents from the state of Ohio, the beloved home state of artist, Chinn Wang. Ohio was once heralded as “The Mother of Presidents,” and the Tribute series seeks to uphold and embellish a legacy of midwestern greatness with humor and reverence. With these prints, Wang aims to personally continue the lineage she sees as passed down to her as a fellow Ohioan, appropriating an historical narrative through enshrining the presidents amongst rare and exotic objects. For Wang, the series serves as a visual declaration of comic self-importance in an effort to claim authority over idealized recollections of the past and to tout her seemingly humble origins.
