Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) recently recognized McWhinney with its statewide Arts and Business Partnership Award at its 2023 Business for the Arts Awards event in Denver. McWhinney, a Colorado-based national real estate investment, development and management firm with expertise in commercial, multifamily, hospitality, residential and mixed-use assets, was honored for supporting the arts and creative industries in Colorado through its commitment to creative placemaking and experiences.

McWhinney believes incorporating art into its projects and communities is necessary for creating meaningful places for people. With arts and culture as one of its corporate brand pillars, McWhinney brings its commitment to life at a multitude of locations throughout Colorado, such as Railway Flats, Kinston, Dairy Block, and Denver Union Station.

“McWhinney is committed to exceptional development and true placemaking,” said Kirsty Greer, executive vice president of multifamily at McWhinney. “Art and community engagement through creative arts are critical elements to creating great places and experiences. We strive to make a positive impact and add value to people’s lives through art and community engagement.”

In its award video, CBCA highlighted McWhinney’s commitment to performing arts programming, community activations, partner installations, sculpture collections and Centerra’s one-of-a-kind Chapungu Sculpture Park exhibit — the largest African stone exhibit in the world outside of Zimbabwe.

“We are honored to be recognized by CBCA for our commitment to the arts community and fortunate to collaborate with talented local artists to integrate culture and creative expressions within our placemaking destinations,” said Celeste Smith, senior marketing director at McWhinney. “Collaborative art partnerships have allowed us to infuse joy in our community while bringing together people to build inclusive environments, creating wonderful opportunities to give back to our community which is part of our DNA.”

CBCA’s awards luncheon is the only statewide event honoring companies and individuals for their outstanding partnerships and engagement with the arts. Founded in 1985, CBCA advances Colorado’s creative economy by connecting business and the arts through arts engagement, advocacy, training, research and volunteerism.
