Developers broke ground on a new hotel in Boston this week, kicking off a nearly two-year construction period to bring the “Hyatt Place Boston Seaport District” to life.

The Hyatt hotel, expected to open across the street from the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion venue in the spring of 2020, will include 294 guest rooms, according to a spokespeople. The project is spearheaded by Hyatt and Colorado-based developers McWhinney.

In step with the trend of mixed-use developments, the new project from Hyatt Hotels Corporation will feature guest rooms as well as residential and commercial space.

Developers plan to include luxury apartments in the mix, as well as 6,800 square feet of restaurant space on the ground floor of the hotel.

Other planned features for the hotel include a rooftop lounge and private event space, a 24-hour gym, a “Coffee to Cocktails Bar,” a daily hot breakfast at “Gallery Kitchen,” a green roof, meeting spaces, an elevated outdoor courtyard and other amenities.
