LOVELAND, COLO. — October 18, 2011— McWhinney is pleased to announce that David Hagan has been named Senior Vice President of Real Estate Development for Loveland based real estate firm McWhinney.
Hagan, who had previously been Senior Vice President and Project Principal for the Denver office of Panattoni Development Company, recently began work for McWhinney. As Senior Vice President, he will oversee McWhinney’s commercial development program and lead the company’s efforts to secure acquisition and development opportunities in Denver and surrounding areas.
“McWhinney is one of the strongest and well established full service real-estate and development companies in the region,” Hagan said. “As an industry leader, this award-winning organization will continue to add great value to the Metro Denver area to which I look forward to being a part of. As we continue to build on the economic vitality of the region, McWhinney’s strong relationships along the Front Range will bring tremendous value.”
Since 1991, McWhinney has been instrumental in establishing Northern Colorado as an economic force. The company developed Centerra, an award-winning 3,000-acre master-planned community in Loveland that includes The Promenade Shops at Centerra, Medical Center of the Rockies hospital, The Marketplace at Centerra, and residential neighborhoods.
McWhinney is working closely with the City of Broomfield to develop North Park, a 935-acre vibrant mixed-use community that will enhance the economic, business and residential offerings in the North Denver area. McWhinney most recently solidified and received approval on a public/private partnership agreement with the City and County of Broomfield which allows sharing of public revenues through the year of 2049. The purpose of this agreement is to help fund public infrastructure for the project. In August, Prospect Ridge Charter School broke ground on a 45,000 square foot academic building which serves as North Park’s first land transaction. This K-6 learning academy will take occupancy of its new facility at North Park in January 2012.
Outside of Northern Colorado, McWhinney broke ground in June on a 208,000 square foot, two-building corporate campus at West Dodge Station in Omaha, Neb. for CSG Systems International, Inc. McWhinney will oversee design and construction of the three-story office buildings and related site work. Construction is to be completed in August of 2012 and once built McWhinney will lease the entire space to CSG Systems.
“Hagan has a tremendous amount of development experience across the United States and will be a great addition to our team,” said John Shaw, President of McWhinney. “He has strong relationships with key decision makers and a proven track record.”
Hagan’s national real estate experience of more than twenty years, includes a strong portfolio of managing and developing over 12 million square feet. While at Panattoni for 9 years, he repositioned problem assets and developed industrial, office and retail products along the Front Range, including the development of the Mile High Business Center and multiple build-to-suits for Raytheon and Aurora Loan Services prior to Panattoni, he served as Vice President of Development for Keystone Property Trust in West Conshohocken, Penn., where he was responsible for developing industrial projects that included projects developed in the joint ventures with Browning Investments and The Morris Companies.
Hagan and McWhinney agree that challenging economic times are slowly improving. There are tremendous opportunities for the company to continue to expand its expertise and services in Denver and other surrounding states.
“McWhinney continues to position itself well financially by maintaining great relationships with existing lenders and partners which allows them to maintain a strong foundation,” said Hagan. McWhinney constantly looks to a variety of prospective projects, which opens up many more possibilities for the future.
