McWhinney to Celebrate Grand Opening of Kinston, Centerra’s Newest Neighborhood

October 4, 2022 Posted In

McWhinney along with its partners will host the grand opening of Kinston, its newest residential neighborhood at Centerra in Loveland, with a family-friendly launch party and model home tours Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Open to the public, the Kinston grand opening will feature a live DJ, food trucks, outdoor games, giveaways, and family-friendly activities — as well as the chance to tour eight brand-new model homes by Dream Finders Homes, Lennar and Richmond American Homes, selling now. Attendees can also learn about future for-sale homes coming soon from Bridgewater Homes, and new Built-For-Rent® paired homes, VellaTerra, co-created by AHV Communities and McWhinney.

McWhinney will be joined by Loveland city officials and Kinston’s first new residents for a ribbon-cutting at 9:30 a.m. to kick off the grand opening festivities.

“We’re excited to formally open Kinston’s doors and welcome new homeowners and the broader community,” said Abby Kirkbride, vice president of community development for northern Colorado at McWhinney. “Our guests will find that Kinston offers the warm embrace of a small town — with front porches, parks and trails, vibrant public art, a welcome center you can walk to, and access to the larger Centerra community.”

The grand opening activities and model home tours begin at the neighborhood’s welcome center — Kinston Hub, located at 6402 Union Creek Dr. The Hub is home to locally-owned Mountain Cowboy Brewing Company, which will be serving up coffee and craft beers throughout the day. At The Hub, attendees can visit the pop-up Community Market, pick up a Kinston map and branded giveaways, enjoy refreshments from local Centerra retailers, and learn about what’s planned for Kinston. High Plains Environmental Center and the Thompson School District will each be on hand to share information, while the Centerra community will offer news of upcoming events and engagement opportunities.

Kinston, whose name is a blend of “kinship” and “town,” stands apart because of its geographic location, views and planned amenities; its commitment to sustainability; and its variety of housing types. There are plans for more than 2,800 homes at Kinston at full build-out. Homebuilders are currently offering single-family and paired homes from the $400s. Plans call for a diverse mix of housing options to meet a wide variety of needs for singles, families with children, empty nesters and more.
