Louisville, CO – (June 17, 2024) – MMA Design (“MMA”), a leading provider of space solar arrays, RF/Communications antennas and other innovative solutions for space missions, announced today that it is relocating to a new state-of-the-art facility at Baseline in Broomfield, Colorado. The move enables MMA to expand its manufacturing and production operations and provide even greater capabilities to its government and commercial customers.

The new facility, located at 1755 W. 160th Ave., features 43,000 square feet of modern R+D, engineering and manufacturing space, more than doubles the company’s current footprint. Owned and developed by McWhinney, the building is part of Baseline’s Innovation District – a flexible industrial campus designed to support advanced manufacturing, invention and scientific and technical discovery. The STEM-focused ethos of Baseline attracted MMA, aligning with the company’s culture.

“Our move to Baseline represents a significant investment in our business and in giving our teams the tools and space they need to keep innovating,” said Mitch Wiens, President + CEO of MMA. “Working seamlessly alongside McWhinney’s fully integrated team, we will be able to create a truly turnkey space that suits the needs of our growing business. Our goal is always to provide our customers with the best possible solutions for their space missions, and our expansion into this new facility will allow us to continue to do just that.”

In addition to the R+D lab, Assembly, Integration and Test (including Clean) area, engineering work areas and an integrated machine shop, the facility will provide MMA’s growing team with state-of-the-art meeting rooms, common areas and recreation space, including a game room and gym.

This move will additionally enable planned enhancements of MMA’s key capabilities through the addition of more environmental testing equipment, increased capacity in the machine shop, robust composites manufacturing, ample manufacturing space for high-volume production, and an expanded R+D lab for more additive manufacturing. MMA will begin moving in at the end of this year with a plan to start operations at the new Baseline facility starting January 1, 2025.

“MMA is a company that is truly moving us forward – both on Earth and beyond – and we’re excited to welcome them as another key tenant at Baseline’s Innovation District,” said Clyde Wood, Vice President of Commercial and Mixed-Use Development, Northern Colorado with McWhinney. “Baseline and the Innovation District were designed for this very purpose: to provide places for innovative people to grow and invest in their big ideas.”

Founded in Boulder, Colorado in 2007, MMA currently employs 50 cross-disciplinary team members primarily focused on space power and RF/communications solutions for the flourishing Small Satellite market. According to the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the number of space-related companies and jobs in Colorado makes it the second-largest aerospace economy in the United States, and MMA is proud to be a vital part of this burgeoning “Aerospace Alley”.

CBRE’s Jim Bolt and Jeremy Kroner represented McWhinney in the lease transaction.
