Retail Filling Up New East-Loveland Building

LOVELAND — The first two tenants have moved into a new retail building at the southwest corner of Sculptor Drive and East Eisenhower Boulevard, with several more businesses in the works.
Loveland developer McWhinney completed the 18,000-square-foot, single-story building Feb. 17 in its Van de Water development. When construction started last August, McWhinney said it had signed Mattress Firm, Domino’s Pizza and 5 Star Nails & Spa as tenants.
So far, the mattress store and pizza place have opened for business, and McWhinney has leased space in the building to Firehouse Subs.
Ashley Stiles, McWhinney vice president for development in Northern Colorado, said in an email that the building will hold seven or eight businesses when fully leased. “We are actively working with a few other tenants and anticipate announcing those tenants soon,” she said.

Mattress Firm

The 4,000-square-foot store at 1393 Sculptor Drive launched April 15 as Loveland’s second Mattress Firm location, according to district manager Jesse Wilkins. The other store is at 1449 N. Denver Ave.
All Mattress Firm locations in Colorado are owned by the publicly traded corporation, Wilkins said.
Juan Romero, the manager on duty Monday, said the store has more than 50 beds in the showroom, from brands such as Serta, Simmons Beautyrest, Sealy Posturepedic, Tempur-Pedic and Hampton and Rhodes.
The store manager is Mike Zeller. Romero, who is fluent in Spanish, works in Loveland on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Domino’s Pizza

The new Domino’s at 1385 Sculptor Drive is “kind of the Taj Mahal” of the franchise owners’ seven locations in Northern Colorado, according to Dylan Hersch, general manager of the restaurant.
Domino’s opened in the new building May 11, moving from 1473 E. Eisenhower Blvd., Hersch said.
“It’s a huge upgrade, to say the least,” he said. The new space has seating for about 38 people, while the old location had a bench where three people could sit while they waited to pick up a pizza, but no dine-in tables.
Hersch said the restaurant is owned by Brian and Amber DelGrosso, who are working to open an eighth location in Eaton.
Domino’s is open 10:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Phone: 970-663-2880.

Firehouse Subs

A sub sandwich restaurant that was started in Florida by brothers from a firefighting family will open its first Loveland location at 1395 Sculptor Drive by mid-August, according to the local franchise owner.
Firehouse Subs restaurants carry through the founders’ firefighting heritage in their sandwich names and store decor, said Matt Ward, a Milliken resident who owns the Firehouse Subs shop in Longmont and has a contract to launch three more in Northern Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyo.
Nationwide, the Hook & Ladder is the top seller, Ward said. The hot sandwich with smoked turkey, Virginia honey ham and Monterey Jack cheese is served “fully involved,” meaning it comes with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, onion, deli mustard and a kosher dill pickle spear on the side.
“Firehouse Subs is a really unique concept,” Ward said. “We use all USDA choice meat, steam the meat and cheese to really bring out the flavor and toast the bread separately. It’s piled high in good, healthy portions.
“We feel a high-quality, almost craveable sandwich really sets us apart,” he said.
The chain, which has almost 1,000 locations in 45 states, also maintains its connection to the firefighting community by distributing money through its Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. Ward said the foundation has given out more than $18 million in grants to local fire departments, police departments and other first-responder agencies.
The restaurant will be open 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
