McWhinney, in partnership with Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Nelsen Partners, is developing Austin’s first Hyatt Centric hotel, a boutique property that marks the developer’s entry into the Texas market. Construction began in November 2019 on the 31-story downtown hotel at Congress Avenue and Eighth Street.
The Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin, scheduled for an early 2022 opening, will offer 246 guest rooms and an estimated 3,000 square feet of meeting space, and 4,450 square feet of ground-floor restaurant and entertainment space, in addition to a second-floor bar, and an eclectic eighth-floor outdoor lounge and bar. Guests will also enjoy access to a 24-hour fitness center.
The Hyatt Centric, a boutique Hyatt brand, plans to offer a 1,400 square-foot presidential suite that will be available as private event space.
The hotel’s interior space, designed by Texas-based firm Duncan Miller Ullmann, will deliver an “Austin boho-chic” vibe and feature a curated art collection by local Austin-area artists.
Hyatt Centric hotels are full-service lifestyle properties located in prime destinations. Thoughtfully designed to enable exploration and discovery, the brand’s hotels connect guests to the heart of the community and all of the action, so guests never miss a moment of adventure.
