McWhinney, in partnership with Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Katerra and Nelson Partners, is developing Austin’s first Hyatt Centric hotel, a boutique property that marks the developer’s entry into the Texas market. Construction began in November 2019 on the 31-story downtown hotel at Congress Avenue and Eighth Street.
The Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin, scheduled for a fall 2021 opening, will offer guests 246 rooms and an estimated 2,000 square feet of meeting and event space. It will include a vibrant ground-floor restaurant and bar, a second-floor bar, and an eclectic eighth-floor outdoor lounge and bar in addition to a 24-hour fitness center.
The Hyatt Centric, a boutique Hyatt brand, will also offer a 1,400-square-foot presidential suite that will be available as private event space.
The hotel’s interior space, designed by Texas-based firm Duncan Miller Ullmann, will deliver an “Austin boho-chic” vibe and feature a curated art collection by local Austin-area artists.
Hyatt Centric hotels are full-service lifestyle properties located in prime destinations. The brand was created to connect guests to the heart of the community action and are thoughtfully designed to enable exploration and discovery so guests never miss a moment of adventure.
